Southfield, Mich. ---March 24, 2026 --- Personal injury and civil rights law firm Moss & Colella P.C. is pleased to announce attorney A. Vince Colella’s Scholarship Fund for Civil Rights, has been awarded to Madeline Tripp, a second year law student at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
Madeline Tripp grew up in Livonia, Michigan, and later attended Grand Valley State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies & Social Impact, with minors in Spanish and Human Rights. Through a volunteer opportunity with the Southwest Detroit Immigrant and Refugee Center, Madeline says she developed a “passion for social justice and advocating for underrepresented populations,” and decided to commit to pursuing a legal career “dedicated to advancing justice and equality.”
“Following my graduation from law school in May 2027, I plan to pursue a career in civil rights litigation, advocating for individuals and communities whose voices are too often unrepresented. This scholarship is especially meaningful to me because it not only supports my legal education but also affirms my commitment to a career in civil rights law,” Tripp said.
A. Vince Colellaestablished the scholarship to support the next generation of civil rights attorneys, with a focus on students passionate about advocating for people in vulnerable situations. Colella’s trial practice spans a wide range of complex matters, including automobile negligence, police misconduct, premises liability, sexual assault, construction and trucking accidents, insurance disputes, discrimination, and wrongful death. In recent years, he has become widely recognized for his work in civil rights and gross negligence litigation.
“Establishing the scholarship rekindled my interest in the mission of the University of Detroit Mercy as a whole, and I’m pleased to have had the experience of representing the law school on this University-wide alumni board,” Colella said.
