Senior litigation attorney at Moss & Colella, P.C.
Ryan has been with Moss and Colella since 2010. In his role as the senior litigation attorney with the firm, he is responsible for handling cases from the moment clients walk in the door until the time their case is completed. He handles the investigation and management of clients’ claims, discovery matters, court hearings, negotiation of settlements, and, of course, trials. He has argued in courts all over the State of Michigan, from local districts up to the federal level. He has also handled successful briefings and arguments in the Michigan Court of Appeals. Although he has performed work on all types of civil litigation, his specialty are cases involving personal injury, including automobile no-fault and negligence, premises liability, and medical malpractice. It is his passion to help clients who have been injured through no fault of their own, yet are often bullied and re-victimized by insurance carriers and corporations who are too stubborn or callous to pay what they owe.
Ryan believes that communication is fundamental to the relationship between an attorney and his client. Despite what many think, most people he meets with have never been injured in an accident or been involved in any kind of litigation. That is why, even from the very first conversation with a potential client, he believes it is important to provide education about the law and to answer any questions they have about their case. This open line of dialogue is encouraged at every point along the way so that a client never has to navigate this process on their own.
Although he grew up in Michigan, Ryan completed his undergraduate and law degrees at Loyola University Chicago. Since returning to Michigan to practice law, he has been a member of the American Bar Association, the Michigan Bar Association, and the Oakland County Bar Association, as well as the Michigan Association for Justice. Since 2019, he has been selected by the National Trial Lawyers as a Top 40 Under 40, and in 2021 was named in the group’s Top 100. Despite these honors from peers, his most rewarding achievement is the knowledge that he has been able to help a client achieve a result to their case that is just, fair, and valuable.
